Always wondered what it would be like to act in a community playhouse production? Well, now’s your chance! Rita Smith, the director of “Little Mary Sunshine,” is looking for 10 men and 10 women to fill the stage for the Peninsula Players’ 2012 musical. Yep! You’ll even get a chance to sing!

Auditions are Tuesday and Wednesday, January 3 and 4, at 7 p.m. at the River City Playhouse, 127 Lake Street, Ilwaco (across from the post office). No experience necessary, just come on out and see how much fun you can have being a part of this event.

Call Rita at 665-0028 for more information, or you can go to the official Little Mary Sunshine website to read a synopsis of the play and listen to clips from the songs. www.littlemarysunshine.com

See you at the playhouse!

There are only six chances to see this upbeat, lighthearted look at true Americana at Christmastime. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays, December 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. and Sunday matinees, December 4 and 11, at 2 p.m. Tickets are just $10.

Act I is “Giving In,” about a child who asks Santa for a kitten for Christmas, and an aunt who has to persuade the child’s mother that a household pet is the best present possible. Act II, “The Ultimatum” is what happens in the family dynamic when a 16-year-old wants a car or nothing at all for Christmas. And in Act III, “Walnut Garland and Airplane Parts,” the story is told of the first Christmas Eve gathering of the adult siblings after their mother passes.

Come see the “new and constantly improving” River City Playhouse at 127 Lake Street in Ilwaco. We have 100 cushy new chairs and a complete new lighting and sound system. The stage is set, the actors are ready, and all we need is YOU, our beloved audience, to make the theater experience complete!
