The classic comedy, “Harvey”, the hilarious interpretation of the Mary Chase play first performed in the 50′s on Broadway, will be opening on the River City Playhouse Stage on March 15th for a two weekend run. Curtain time on Friday and Saturday in at 7 pm, with matinees on Sundays at 2 pm.

Leading the cast is Robert Scherrer as the mild and polite Elwood P. Dowd. Elwood’s friendship with a 6 foot (or 6 foot and a half) tall rabbit causes all sorts of problems for his dear sister Veta, played by Penny Bierly. Veta takes it in stride until her daughter, Myrtle Mae, played by Rita Smith, feels her social life is being ruined and therefore begs her mother to take action.

This leads the story to Chumley’s Rest where the famous Dr. Chumley, played by Frank Lehn, tries to solve the turmoil of the family. Dr. Sanderson, played by Michael Veland, and Nurse Kelly, played by Melissa McLeod, have a case of mistaken identity and diagnosis and mayhem ensues. Orderly Wilson, played by Ed Ahlers, gets confused with who is who and why things are the way they are.

Joyce Jones plays Chumley’s wife and becomes a dear friend of Elwood after only one meeting. She makes plans to transport Elwood’s “friend” to town. Things become so involved that the family friend, and lawyer, Judge Gaffney, portrayed by Karl Johnson, is called in for consultation and support. Rounding out the cast are Jeanine Miller, Rose Powers and Rob Lindberg.

This tale of a tall mischievous rabbit who comes into the lives of some frustrated people. The audience must decide whether Harvey is real or imaginary.

Tickets are available at three outlets on the Peninsula. Okie’s Thriftway in Ocean Park, Stormin’ Norman’s in Long Beach and Olde Towne Trading Post in Ilwaco. Tickets may be obtained on a “will call” basis by calling 360-244-3157. Tickets will also be available at the door on a first come first serve basis. All tickets are $10.

for your Christmas-time cheer.

MISDEEDS AT MISTLETOE MINE

Or . . . The Sanity Clause

By Tim Koening

Directed by Robert Lindberg

A classic MeloDrama directed by our own MeloDrama Maestro Robert Lindberg.

Our heroine, Rose Bush, sweet, young, and pure, is trying to save the Yule Fall Inn and her niece from the clutches of the evil mayor, (and, dare we say it, . . . lawyer), and his lovely but treacherous assistant.

Please note: booing & jeering the villains WILL BE TOLERATED

(and perhaps encouraged)

AN IMPLAUSIBLE CLAUS

By Nikki Harmon

Directed by Sherry Ahlers

9 year old Jensie is worried about Santa receiving her Christmas List, so she sets out for the home of the Ho-Ho-Hotline. Upon arrival at her destination, she finds an unlikely friend. Though generations apart, the power of a young girl’s imagination transports these unlikely comrades on a wondrous, and humorous, journey.

SCROOGE HAS LEFT THE BUILDING

By Pat Cook

Directed by Ed Ahlers

Once again, Jacob Marley and the Ghosts haunt Scrooge on Christmas Eve. They are on their annual mission to help Scrooge repent and change his ways before sinking into the torturous after-life that Marley must endure.

Charles Dickens first published A Christmas Carol in 1843, and every year for 169 years the spirits have saved Scrooge.

Or have they?
