Volunteer Opportunity-Work Parties

You are cordially invited to join us for two work parties to ready our facility for the upcoming Ilwaco ArtWalk on September 4th. When we moved in, we put everything in the main hall so that we’d have space to sort before stowing in the side and back rooms. We’ve stowed some of the stuff, but still have lots more to go.

We’re planning work parties on two separate days. The first one is Wednesday, August 27 from 3pm to 6pm. This is a “hang-the-costumes”, “box the hats & wigs” sort of party.

The second is on Labor Day, September 1st from 3pm to 6pm. We’ll finish stowing the stuff and do some sprucing up for the ArtWalk Tours. This event will culminate with a potluck dinner. Bring a dish and join us.

Exciting News…
We’re Painting and Moving In

…all in the next two weeks…

This is your opportunity to put in some “sweat equity” into our new playhouse.

Here’s the work schedule:

Paint Work Party-Tuesday, July 29, 9-3 We’ll be priming the lounge and stairwell. We need you in your paint clothes, rollers, brushes, scrapers, paint pans, a tall ladder and extension poles. Bring what you have please.
Paint Work Party-Wednesday, July 30, 9-3 We’ll be adding the color coat to the lounge and stairwell. Same details as above.
August 3_Moving Day-Sunday August 3,1-4 We’re hiring 4 helpers and renting a truck to do the heavy lifting. Meet at the Storage Unit in Ocean Park to help direct the workers and do some packing. We need cardboard boxes and/or sheets to wrap costumes in.
Sort and Put Away Day-Monday August 4, 9-3 Meet at the 2nd Story Playhouse and help sort thru props, costumes, staging materials and put stuff away.

Work Parties on 5/20, 5/21 & 5/22

You are invited to get a sneak peek at our new venue by joining one of our work parties on Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday at 4 p.m (to no later than 7 p.m.). We’re thrilled about our new venue…but boy, does it need some work!

We’re contracting out for the heavy stuff, but we need some help to do some of the lighter stuff. We want to clean those areas that we will use immediately to store our props, sets and costumes. And we want to give the public use areas like bathrooms and kitchen a deep cleaning to be ready for our use. Here’s the work list:

Go through the bathrooms looking for leaks or minor repairs that need doing. And, of course, repairing as you find problems.
Clean and sanitize the bathrooms.
Vacuum the anterooms thoroughly.
Go thru the kitchen looking for minor repairs that need doing.
Clean and sanitize the kitchen.
Mop linoleum floors as needed.
Sort thru items left and decide what to keep and what to dispose of.
Remove trash

So grab your tools, mop, broom, shop vac, rags, bathroom repair and cleaning supplies and come on over to 108 Spruce Street, Ilwaco WA–upstairs in the old Oddfellows Hall (above Just Treasures). Anything that you can bring with you to use is much appreciated.
